El Alamein War Museum

El Alamein War Museum, officially known as the El Alamein Military Museum, stands in the coastal city of El Alamein in Egypt's Matrouh Governorate. It commemorates the battles fought here during the Second World War, particularly the decisive Allied victory of October and November 1942. The museum combines an outdoor exhibition of tanks, artillery, armoured vehicles and other military equipment with indoor galleries dedicated to Egypt, Britain, Germany and Italy, alongside a shared exhibition hall. Battle maps, uniforms, weapons, personal belongings and models help explain the North African campaign and the experiences of the people involved. The Egyptian gallery also addresses Egypt's wartime role and losses under British occupation. Located along the Alexandria–Matrouh road, the museum provides historical context for the nearby war cemeteries and memorials, making it an important destination for understanding the military and human consequences of the conflict.
